To list your show on Akouva, all we need is an RSS feed containing an ad-free version of your show. That’s it – one little feed, and one little form, and your show unlocks a whole new level of opportunity to get what you deserve from your efforts.

Here’s how it works:

You submit your RSS Feed

We’re an online and app-based podcast player, and we keep shows updated by tracking and importing RSS feeds. Think of us like Apple Podcasts, just much more dedicated to supporting your show. Just use our dedicated form to submit an ad-free feed for your podcast to us, and we’ll handle the rest.

We pay you $25 for every 1,000 listens.

As soon as your podcast is available on Akouva, you benefit from our Creator Promise. We’re committed to giving the podcasts that work with Akouva every opportunity they need to succeed, and helping podcasters be properly rewarded for the time and effort they put into creating their shows. Making sure that you’re earning what you properly deserve from every single listen your receive on Akouva is just the first step of that process.

No, seriously; that’s it. Bringing your podcast to Akouva and getting properly paid for the effort you put into podcasting is as simple as setting up an ad-free version of your show and submitting a form to send it to us.

If you want to get the most out of your show’s presence on Akouva, then all creators on the platform are automatically enrolled in our referral program, where you’ll earn a commission for every new subscriber you bring to Akouva. But if you don’t, that’s fine by us too. You keep on trucking, making the podcast your listeners want to hear, and we’ll keep on providing them with a better way to do just that.

How do I submit my podcast to Akouva?

Press the button above, and you’ll be taken to our dedicated page for submissions, where we’ll ask you to provide your ad-free RSS feed and some details about your show. After that, just hit the submit button and we’ll take it from there!

How long will it take for my podcast to be live on Akouva?

Our process isn’t instant, as we do manually check submitted podcasts to ensure they’re ad-free and suitable for our platform, but we aim to confirm whether your podcast has been accepted or not via an email to your listed contact email within two weeks from your original submission. If it’s been longer than four weeks and you haven’t heard from us, please contact us directly for an update!

Are there any restrictions on what sort of podcasts can submit to Akouva?

No – we do have some checks we go through to make certain that a podcast is suitable for our platform, but we apply these on a podcast-by-podcast basis, not a blanket ban on any particular topic of type of content. Generally, if your podcast is already available on major podcast providers, then it is likely to be accepted onto Akouva as long as the version provided meets our ad-free requirements.

I run multiple podcasts – can I submit all them to be on Akouva?

Yes, but our submissions form can only handle one podcast at a time. If you’d like to submit a large number of podcasts at once, or represent a network of podcasts, we recommend you contact us directly.

Do I need to change hosting providers to put my podcast on Akouva?

Nope! Much like submitting your show to Apple or Amazon Podcasts, all you need to submit a show to us is an RSS feed – just make sure it’s ad-free!

What exactly do you mean by “Ad-Free”?

When we say “ad-free”, we mean that the version of a podcast available on Akouva must not have any integrated or inserted, or other type of promotions or adverts for third-party companies, paid or otherwise. An occasional friendly shout-out is OK, a dedicated “this show is brought to you by Company X” is not.

How do I create an ad-free version of my podcast?

If you insert advertising into your show via Dynamic Insertion (i.e. you place a marker in your show, and your provider inserts advertising automatically at those markers), then your hosting provider may be able to create a version of your RSS feed with those markers disabled. If you insert ads into the audio file of your podcast, then you may need to create a new version of your show with those ads removed, and submit the RSS feed appropriately.

Can I still promote my Merch/Patreon/other projects on the Ad-Free version of my podcast?

Absolutely! Our goal is to remove third-party advertising and improve the listener experience, not remove chances for listeners to support the brands they love. Promoting your Patreon, merchandise, and any outside projects that you’re directly involved in is completely allowed on Akouva. If you’d like more specifics, please consult our Podcast Terms of Service.

Can I promote other podcasts on the Ad-Free version of my podcast?

Yes, but use good judgement on if and when that crosses over into full-on advertisements. If you’re giving a sentence-long shout-out to a different podcast every episode? That’s fine. If you’re spending a whole minute giving a breakdown of a podcast, and it’s a regular segment in your show? That’s a lot more like advertising.

Note that this is a general courtesy rule we apply to help podcasts grow, and not a specific exception in our Terms. We reserve the right to take action as we deem necessary should we decide that any podcast promotions breach our Ad-Free requirements.

My podcast doesn’t run ads at all – can I still list it on Akouva?

Absolutely! Even if you don’t run ads on your show, you’re welcome to put it on Akouva and benefit from your listens on the platform.

How often will I receive payouts for my podcast’s listens on Akouva?

Payouts will be sent out in January, April, July and October for the three months preceding, subject to a minimum payout threshold of $25. If you haven’t hit the threshold, we’ll roll your balance forward until you do. See our Podcast Terms of Service for more specific details.

How will I receive those payouts?

We send podcast listenership payouts out via Wise’s email-based system – whenever you are due a payout, you will receive an email asking you to enter the relevant details in Wise’s secure payment portal. By default, we will send payout emails to the address you list as your contact email in your podcast’s submission form. Payouts may be subject to transaction fees and conversion fees where needed.

What counts as a “listen”?

A listen is counted when a user plays more than 30 seconds of any individual episode of your podcast available on Akouva.

How does Akouva’s referral system work?

When your podcast is accepted onto Akouva, we’ll send you a link to sign up to our affiliate program, where you’ll create a code your listeners can use to get their first month for free when they subscribe to Akouva. For every user that subscribes to Akouva using your code, you’ll receive a 20% commission on their subscription for as long as it’s active.
